A Year in Review – 2024!
What an incredible year it’s been at SFL! Our programs have grown, and we’ve introduced new clubs and groups that inspire creativity, fun, learning, and good food! We’ve provided hours of tech help, welcomed hundreds of kids for storytime, and hosted an exciting array of events — including visits from authors, poets, filmmakers, performers, gamers, and even The Poop Museum — an event full of unforgettable surprises!
Here’s a look at the new clubs and groups we added in 2024:
- The Citadel at SFL – A monthly table-top game night for gamers of all skill levels.
- Cook the Book – A tasty twist on the traditional book club.
- Crafty Companions – A monthly chat and craft event.
- Booked in the Borough – A weekly networking and critique group for aspiring writers.
- Silent Book Club – A peaceful, monthly quiet reading night at the library.
As we kick off the 2025 season, SFL continues to stay on trend with a new social/book group for young readers ages 21 and up. The first meeting of the NEW Catch-up Book Club will be on January 26th. For more details, click HERE.
We’re also thrilled to announce our first-ever jigsaw puzzle competition, happening on January 12th—Jigsaw Jamboree! Teams of up to six are invited to join the friendly competition. Teams will have two hours to complete a 300-piece puzzle, with prizes awarded to the top three finishers! Register your team HERE.
Stay tuned for our Adulting 101 series for ages 16-25. We’ve pulled experts from the community to share their knowledge about finance, sewing, resume writing and auto basics. More information to come!
Get ready for some winter reading fun! Our Winter Reading Challenges start on January 1st and run through March 30th. Readers of all ages can join the challenges on Beanstack and start earning reading points toward exciting completion prizes.
And of course, we’ll continue to offer all your favorite programs that have stood the test of time! We’re looking forward to 2025 and will continue to offer:
- Author talks
- Community puzzle building
- Ongoing book groups
- The Wednesday knitting group
- The Seed Library
- Our Summer Reading Program and seasonal reading challenges
- Drop-in storytime
