Get Ready for the 2024 LOVE WHERE YOU READ Art Contest!
Last year’s debut of the LOVE WHERE YOU READ Art Contest was a huge success, showcasing the creativity of 13 talented artists of all abilities. We’re excited to announce that we’re doing it again this year, and we want you to be a part of it!
Kick-Off Event: Stonington Borough Art Walk
Join us on September 14th for an En Plein Air event at the library! Artists are invited to paint or sketch in and around the library during this special art walk. Art kits will be available starting September 9th as part of our monthly Take & Make/Grab & Go kits. Don’t miss your chance to grab one and start creating!
About the Contest
The LOVE WHERE YOU READ Art Contest celebrates the SFL Stairwell Gallery. This permanent gallery, funded by an anonymous donor, honors the memory of Sue Buchman, a beloved colleague and local artist, and encourages artists and students to engage in the creative process.
The gallery, located in the stairwell connecting the main library level to the children’s room, features changing exhibits every three months. Last year’s exhibits included works by Stonington Middle School students, author Maggie Spadaro’s Story Wall, and a solo show by last year’s contest winner, Sally McBee of Two Bees Design.
