LIBRARY’S VISION OF INCREASED ACCESSIBILITY FOR ALL AND EXPANDED DIGITAL ACCESS TAKES A STEP CLOSER TO REALITY
The Stonington Free Library is pleased to announce that after a rigorous review process, it has selected G. Donovan Associates as the general contractor for the new ADA addition on the eastern side of the Library.
This addition focuses on increasing accessibility for all members of the community to all parts of the existing Library and includes an ADA compliant ramp, entrance, elevator and restrooms on both levels. We expect construction to begin late October; however, preparatory site work will happen before groundbreaking.
G. Donovan Associates has been in the construction industry for 25 years and has experience in both the private and public sectors. Their local work includes the recent renovations at the Stonington COMO, and other projects in southeastern CT include the Coast Guard Academy, Fort Trumbull and Ocean Beach Park in New London and the Gallup Hill Elementary School expansion in Ledyard.

Another critical part of the Stonington Free Library’s goal is to expand digital services including upgraded high-speed internet. The award of a $58,805 grant from the CT State Library and the Universal Service Schools and Library Program for the installation of a fiber-optic connection is a further step toward the transformation of the Stonington Free Library into a 21st century institution for all residents of Stonington.
