Sunday Evening Lecture – Howard Park on Circumnavigating the World at the La Grua Center

Narrated by Howard Park, this is an account of his finding COMET, a 1946 Sparkman and Stephens, 52’ yawl, restoring her and circumnavigating the world. Sharing his visual journal of watercolors and photographs, and the fascinating stories behind them, Howard reveals the beauty of distant ports and the adventures of life aboard his sailboat, COMET.

The journey began in November, 1997 from Stonington, CT, returning in June, 2001. He and his wife, Rieta, sailed 31,000 miles following the ancient Square Rigger route from east to west. 15,000 miles of which Howard single handed.
