Paint with Kristin Cafferty

In this mixed-media project, students will explore texture, color, pattern, and line while creating a striking ocean-inspired whale artwork. Using acrylic paint and sponges, students will learn how to blend and layer colors to create a textured underwater background. They will then transfer a whale image onto their artwork and use white acrylic markers to add creative patterns, lines, and details inspired by the unique markings found in nature.

Through this project, students will strengthen their understanding of contrast, composition, texture, and pattern design while developing fine motor skills, creativity, and confidence in making artistic choices. The finished piece combines painting, drawing, and design techniques to create a bold and imaginative work of art.

This hands on art program is great for kids 9-12.
