Canceled – Mystery Dinner

Oh, what a week month it’s been! We sadly find it necessary to cancel our much loved Mystery Dinner for the safety of our hosts and attendees for 2020.
As you know, the Mystery Dinner is the Library’s one and only fundraising gala and we depend upon its revenues to pay our staff, purchase library materials and pay our utilities. Between now and the end of June, Stonington Free Library needs to raise a total of $94,707.54 to cover our budgeted costs, and the cancellation of the Mystery Dinner makes that much harder to accomplish. 
Won’t you please consider donating the amount you would have spent to attend the Mystery Dinner to a “virtual” Mystery Dinner? We plan to hold a festive “Mystery Party” once restrictions are lifted, and all donors to the “virtual” dinner will receive a ticket! You can donate online or send a check with “Mystery Dinner” in the memo line.
The Stonington Free Library has been busy figuring out how best to serve our community during these difficult times. Despite our temporary closure, our expenses do not materially decrease. It is our goal to keep SFL staff employed through this uncertain period, both so that they are still with us when life gets back to normal, and also because it’s the right thing to do to avoid causing them undue hardship. Your support and donation today will help us retain our loyal staff.
