to enrich lives and build community by bringing information, ideas and people together
Historic Stonington and the Stonington Como are partnering on a family program called “Build Stonington” led by architect Steven Schwarz, AIA. Schwarz has piloted this program in several other communities including Rye and Bronxville, New York. He has built streetscapes of the Washington Mall and Vatican City out of Legos and we are excited he is coming here to Stonington. This year’s map will focus on the Borough of Stonington and we have tentative plans to expand this in coming years to the Pawcatuck-Westerly area and Mystic Bridge. This event will offer 50 teams the opportunity to construct historic landmarks out of Legos and to place them on a giant streetscape map of Stonington. Teams will pay a nominal fee and will build their structures on site at the Como on November 2nd from 1-5pm. To get a team together, visit the COMO website for tickets! Stonington Free Library is proud to be a co-sponsor of this fun family event.
