We Took a Shot — and It Paid Off!
This year, the library’s annual LOVE Where You Read Contest focused on photography, and the results were nothing short of inspiring. We received over 30 submissions from 22 talented photographers, each offering a unique view of the world through their lens.
In preparation for the contest, we had the pleasure of hosting landscape photographer David Hendley for a workshop and artist talk. These events were enthusiastically received, and attendees learned a great deal about the art and technique of capturing just the right image. You can watch David’s full lecture on the SFL YouTube channel.
On October 23, library staff members Karen Lindeborg and Millie Donovan led a photo tour of the library for kids ages 8 and up. Participants used brand-new digital cameras—now available for checkout in our Library of Things—to explore and capture their own creative shots. The resulting images will be displayed alongside contest winners in the SFL Stairwell Gallery, on view through December 30.

The Jury Process

- Celebrate the close of the photography exhibit
- Present awards to this year’s winning photographers
