DESCRIPTION:In this mixed-media project\, students will explore texture\, color\, pattern\, and line while creating a striking ocean-inspired whale artwork. Using acrylic paint and sponges\, students will learn how to blend and layer colors to create a textured underwater background. They will then transfer a whale image onto their artwork and use white acrylic markers to add creative patterns\, lines\, and details inspired by the unique markings found in nature. \nThrough this project\, students will strengthen their understanding of contrast\, composition\, texture\, and pattern design while developing fine motor skills\, creativity\, and confidence in making artistic choices. The finished piece combines painting\, drawing\, and design techniques to create a bold and imaginative work of art. \nThis hands on art program is great for kids 9-12. \nReserve your spot HERE. DESCRIPTION:Since its founding in 2019\, CT Examiner has won more than 140 regional\, state and national awards. CT Examiner Editor Gregory Stroud and reporter Amy Wu talk about the ups and downs of the news business and what it means to work in an industry when 40% of newspapers have closed since 2000 and many more have downsized to shadows of their former selves. \n\nGregory Stroud — Prior to launching CT Examiner in 2019\, Stroud earned a PhD in History and taught at Bennington College. He also wrote and directed plays for the stage and was Director of Special Projects for the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation. \nAmy Wu — Amy Wu is an award-winning journalist and reports on Southeastern Connecticut for CT Examiner. Amy spent over two decades as a reporter at media outlets including the USA Today Network and also worked at Time magazine and The Deal.
