DESCRIPTION:Experience the joy of childhood adventures! \nJoin us for a retrospective exhibition celebrating the beloved Flat Stanley book series by local author Jeff Brown. Jeff and his family considered Stonington Borough their home away from home\, and many of Flat Stanley’s adventures were inspired by the seaside. \n\n\nDiscover the story behind this iconic series and learn how Jeff Brown inspired generations of young readers through literacy\, curiosity\, and cultural exploration. \n\n\n\nBooks are available for check out and kids of all ages are welcome to join the fun by coloring and cutting out their own Flat Stanley. This fun activity will be available in the children’s room until July 31. \nThe exhibit will be open during business hours. \nOpening reception will take place on July 2 at 5:30. Gather in the stairwell or take the elevator down to the children’s room. All are welcome!

DESCRIPTION:Since its founding in 2019\, CT Examiner has won more than 140 regional\, state and national awards. CT Examiner Editor Gregory Stroud and reporter Amy Wu talk about the ups and downs of the news business and what it means to work in an industry when 40% of newspapers have closed since 2000 and many more have downsized to shadows of their former selves. \n\nGregory Stroud — Prior to launching CT Examiner in 2019\, Stroud earned a PhD in History and taught at Bennington College. He also wrote and directed plays for the stage and was Director of Special Projects for the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation. \nAmy Wu — Amy Wu is an award-winning journalist and reports on Southeastern Connecticut for CT Examiner. Amy spent over two decades as a reporter at media outlets including the USA Today Network and also worked at Time magazine and The Deal.
