SUMMARY:Faces & Places: a 50 Year Retrospective with Ray Uzanas
DESCRIPTION:Travel writer\, photographer\, and Stonington resident Ray Uzanas looks back at a half-century of global adventures that have shaped and influenced his perspective on our planet and its people. From a 1976 visit to Borneo and its “headhunting” tribes to a 2025 voyage through the sea ice of the Arctic Circle\, Ray shares images of some of our planet’s unsurpassed beauty while highlighting the diverse peoples with whom we share our planet. \nIt is the latter—his visits with people across the globe—that has earned him the most accolades and admiration. These encounters can also teach valuable life lessons to those with an open mind\, curiosity\, and an interest in sharing themselves with our global neighbors. \nOne theme that Uzanas has tried to follow throughout his travels comes from a quote by French novelist Marcel Proust: \n“The real voyage of discovery consists\, not in seeking new landscapes\, but in having new eyes.”
